Human Development and Family Relations

Given the changing trends and the ever increasing requirement of experts in the field of Human Development and Family Relations, the department has introduced new courses that have wide employment opportunities and national and international applicability.

The course offered by the department provide an in-depth knowledge base and skill training to students to be effectively absorbed in various agencies working with child welfare, social welfare, education and human development.

Courses in M.Sc. Human Development and Family Relations and Post Graduate Diploma in Child Guidance and Family Counselling train the students to take on a central role as counselors, special education experts, academicians, and researchers in the field of family studies, early childhood care and education. Avenues for students also exist in various projects being run for welfare of women, children, and children with special needs by National and International organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, NIPCCD, ICCW and ICMR. Many students in the past have been working effectively as Child Development Project Officers in Integrated Child Development Services Scheme. Students also find placements in various Non-Government Organizations, Hospital setups, and Institutes of higher education.

The Department is sufficiently equipped with smart class rooms, conference room, computers, psychological tests and instruments.A laboratory Nursery School, Chaitanya, with 50 students aged 3-5 year olds on it rolls, provide the students an excellent platform to get firsthand experience about observing this age group. It also offers opportunities to the students to plan and conduct stimulating activities for the holistic development of young children. It has dedicated and highly qualified staff which is a good amalgamation of young, energetic and enthusiastic as well as experienced and visionary faculty members.
