Foods and Nutrition Department offers a two years Masters degree in Foods and Nutrition and
Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. Both these courses offer excellent placement
opportunities and cater to the demand for specialized expertise at National and International levels in
various institutions and organizations like hospitals, health clinics, schools, vocational programmes,
projects and non-government organizations.
In the light of the changing time trends, vocationalization and increased awareness about health and disease, the department lays emphasis on specialized undergraduate courses in Dietetics to equip the students with the latest skill set. The department also encompasses the societal needs by running a diet clinic wherein dietary counselling is carried out for different age groups and diseases .The curriculum is innovative and has a strong practical base to keep pace with the dynamics and changing educational and professional needs in the field of nutrition and health care.
This will equip the students to translate theory into practice and develop their skills for placement opportunities in various hospitals and health care facilities. They are trained to be absorbed as nutrition and health experts in various health clubs, schools, NGOs. Cookery competitions, seminars, workshops, lectures are organized by the Ginger Club of the department round the year which entails active participation by the students and society at large. The club boasts of more than 100 members. To ensure effective facilitation of the curriculum and extension activities, the department has 4 well equipped labs besides smart class rooms for teaching theory through the ICT technique.
